honk kong - what a crazy mess of a city

yup, first day back and they send me to Hong Kong !
booyah! I kick myself for not having my camera, it's such a wonderfully exotic place on Earth...
I think I'll take me a few days to recover after 15 h. in flight each way, and only 24 in the city..of which i spent mostly walking around - they never give us enough time to get in all the sights, smells and shopping deals..but i guess those should be reserved for longer trips (well, the first 2, anyway!)

Despite my lack of proper sleep in the last few days, I pulled myself out of bed early and made it down to the field-to-table coop down near the beaches where I helped assemble food boxes to be delivered to retirement homes, nurseries, hospitals, churches and homes of cancer victims. Although my limbs ached by 3:00 it felt really good to participate in such a good cause, and to compesate me for my effort, they send me home with a recycling bin full of fresh organic veggies ! yum ! I imagine I must have looked pretty ridiculous on my rollerblades, trying to keep my balance with this oversized bag on my back...Going up and down the subway stairs..Oy !
I'm probably not gonna make it out to the drum jam tonight I've been so excited about for the past 2 weeks..There just ain't no more juice, honey !
Next time will be in a month from now, as I start my 3-week vacation as Friday at 5:30...
Hoping Catherine from NS can make it to Spain with me...and maybe Lindsay too !!

back on track...sort of

they tried, and they failed..
can't get rid of me that easy, I say !

Being temporarily out of work for about 2 months w/ AC has been a burden..but no longer, they've got me back on line as of next week ! oh man, I was in a pinch there for a while...
I can't decide how it feels just yet, knowing I have an income certainly appeases the mind, but serving g+t's at 30,000 feet really doesn't qualify as a dream job...

But at least I'll have the luxary of attending school and doing other stuff w/ the new scheduling system they've just implemented...maybe i can get some good travelling in, too !!
Speaking of travelling, I have about 3 weeks off as of April 1st, hoping to make it over to Spain..
Hopefully I'll meet up with friends who are in the same boat as me

May the sea air refresh and mind, may the warm weather soften my skin and may the spirit of the Mediterranean fill my heart with happiness and peace...
And of course, may the food and wine be plentiful !!

gurgling river & runny nose

My, my, my...
First week down, one more to go and I've already come down with a headcold.
It must be these kids coughing right in my face..
That and the fact I haven't slept more that 5 hours every night this week.
Something about seeing the clock strike midnight, I can't seem to get bed without it these days

I'll be ok, though..The thought of waking up early and greeting the bring morning sun came as a warm welcome today, as I crunched into a snowy river bank along the Saugeen river up in middle-of-nowhere Ontario on a beautiful farm with lots of dogs accompanying us...The sounds of Spring, and the sun peering through the tree branches gave such a lovely glow to the world that I found myself very happy to be awake and alive to apperciate such a wonderful time of the day..So much for being a creature of the night..

Again I will be rising early tomorrow (in a few hours, really) to join in a powwow of sorts - friends and I are attending a Native American welcoming of Spring ceremony at dawn, so I heed to the calling of my warm sheets !

I must have been born backwards, it's now we're suppose to come out of hibernation, and here I am crawling into my little nest..Oh well, sweet dreams await !

Ok, getting the hang of this..

Second day on the job and I'm not feeling like poo...
Must be a good sign, yesterday I was feeling soo much worse when I got home
And they tell me Tuesdays is the most difficult day of the week

I have 12 kids in my class, 2 of which are slowly draining my patience.
But as long as I'm firm & keep them occupied, they seem be figuring out that I'm their "teacher"
And that I can't be taken advantage of...

Sounds like they're horrible, but I guess it just takes some getting used
Being surrounded by little bundels of energy all day long gives you such a different perspective
It was so cute to watch them try to stand up against the fierce winds today..
"Miss Stephanie, I can't even walk..ahh! there goes my hat !!"
